My Passion

My passion for being a therapist comes from my deep curiosity and appreciation for the nuances of our human experience.  My fascination and love of individual stories drives my personal calling to hold a safe space, and to offer support and guidance for people navigating life’s challenges.  It is an honour to witness a client’s willingness to be vulnerable, to develop deepened awareness, and move towards living life with more vitality.

As a mother, a daughter, a sister, a spouse, a former student, a mental health professional, and simply as a human, I understand the difficulties we can face along this journey.  It is through my on-going experiences with personal therapy, professional supervision, and pursuit of knowledge that I continue to find joy, wellness, and meaning in my own life.

My Approach

I primarily work with teens, adults, and parents.   I don’t subscribe to the belief that one approach can help everyone with everything, and I find that incorporating different therapeutic skills and knowledge offers an individualized approach and a more holistic experience.  With life experiences shaping the uniqueness of each person, an eclectic and flexible approach allows for a plan that is personalized to the needs of an individual.  Some of the approaches I integrate include Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), IFS (parts work), Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), attachment theory, and neuroscience.

In more practical terms, we might explore your nervous system responses to daily stressors. We might learn to make room for the painful emotions.  We might learn new ways of relating to ourselves with kindness and compassion.  We might come to understand the values that guide our actions, or the fears that contribute to our inaction.  We will learn about the parts that may be stuck in unhelpful patterns, and getting in the way of you living your most meaningful life.
