Life can be overwhelming and stressful. It’s natural to struggle and feel challenged from time to time, and therapy can be a safe place to begin to work through those difficulties.
The initial session or two will be an opportunity to get to know each other, to explore the main issues that brought you to counselling, and to create some goals for therapy.
Therapy can be a short-term, or a more long-term commitment, and this can vary from person to person, and issue to issue. Regardless of how long it takes to resolve any specific issues, there will be gains along the way and feelings of improvement.
Whatever it is that you are experiencing, I will create a safe, non-judgemental and validating space within which you can gain insights, develop coping skills, identify values, examine relationships and relational patterns, explore complex and unresolved issues, and foster your strengths and resiliency.
Therapy is an invitation to a deeper conversation; one where curiosity is essential to understanding yourself and others in new ways. Connection with your therapist is a key element to the process, and I hope that my warmth and openness fosters the freedom to work at a pace that is comfortable for you.
